Events and activities on the 2009 Arts Trail

Longer events, activities and performances

Envelopes at the Southville Centre

Envelopes at the Southville Centre

The Arts Trail theme this year is based on letters and letterboxes and at the Southville Centre you will be able to make your own envelope, and then participate in a word hunt around the trail. Each venue on the trail will have a special word for you to collect and include in your letter, which can then be delivered back to the Southville Centre. Can you create the most original letter and envelope in Southville?

This activity will be available throughout the trail. All letters and envelopes will be displayed in the Southville Centre, and there will be a prize for the most imaginative one.

Gallery on the Green

The North Street Green Action Group will be hosting a "Gallery on the Green" event for kids. Bring your children along to create and display their art around the green. There will be all sorts of materials to play with to create art and music. There will be "On safari at North Street Green", "Make a shaker" and "Rubbish pit" sections, all with different activities. Relax on the green while your kids play!

The event will be on Saturday, May 9 from 11am - 3pm. See the North Street Green (artist details) page for more information, or to get involved visit http://www.northstreetgreen.com/.

There will be live graffiti demonstrations by local graffiti artists in Dame Emily Park, outside the Bristol South Swimming Pool, over Saturday and Sunday, though this will be weather dependent.

Trevor Carter, the bard of Windmill Hill

Grant Bradley Gallery

The Grant Bradley Gallery is offering their ever-popular prints promotion over the Arts Trail weekend, with 20% off on selected artists' prints. There will also be live music from the Sons of Sunday on both days.

On Sunday, there will be a special appearance from Windmill Hill’s very own bard, Trevor Carter, who will be entertaining us all with poetry from 3pm (see below).
