Arts Trail theme for 2009

Letterbox Monster by Natalie Allistone

Letterbox Monster: Natalie Allistone

The theme for the trail this year is centred around letters and letterboxes. This is reflected in the design of the posters and trail guide leaflets, which can be picked up at the major venues, such as the Southville Centre, Tobacco Factory and Glass Designs on North Street, and are also available on the Downloads (Trail brochure, etc.) page.

We are encouraging venues to decorate their letterboxes with "Letterbox Monsters" over the weekend. Please send in your photos of your own, or other venues' letterbox monsters to the web team's email address (sba.web.team@gmail.com) and we will post a collection of the best photos on the site. Alternatively, if you use the Photo Sharing website Flickr (you can get yourself a free account if you don't use it already), please add your photos into the 2009 photo pool for the Trail.

Please also feel free to add any other photos you take around the trail to the 2009 photo pool. Photos submitted to the pool may be used on the SBA website, or in promotional materials, so you might get your photo in the press or on TV! We try our best to get attribution on any photos we use or provide to others.

The second theme related activity to get involved in is the "Letter/Story Trail". Each venue around the trail will have a special word on their door. The idea is to collect as many of these words as you can and create an original letter from them. In the Southville Centre there will be a place to make your own envelope from a range of materials and use this to post your letter to the Southville Centre over, or after the Trail weekend, or hunt down the walking letterbox in the Southville Centre and post your letter into their tummy!

The activity will be available throughout the trail. All letters and envelopes will be displayed in the Southville Centre, and there will be a prize for the most imaginative one.

Please see the events on the Events and activities page, too.
