Sylvie Duncan

Uluru No. 5

These paintings were inspired by a walk I made around the base of Uluru (Ayers Rock), Central Australia, one morning in October 2011. My interest was particularly drawn to the strong light and shadows cast.
I photographed a series of images as I walked along, listening to stories about this very special place, which has a strong spiritual significance for the indigenous people.
The landscape was surprisingly green, due to the amount of rain the country has experienced during the last few months and the red desert was blooming with a variety of plants and trees, such as the desert oak.

My chosen medium at present is oil bars and some watercolour. Subject matter includes unusual views of the Bristol locality, some overseas locations, and a smattering of fruit and veg.
