Southbank Bristol Arts

Homecoming is an Open Exhibition inviting all Bristol artists to submit works which respond to the idea of ‘Home’. As a counterpoint to the ‘Travel’ themed Southbank Bristol Arts Week 2007, this autumn’s SBA Open exhibition at the Grant Bradley Gallery invites all Bristol artists to submit previously undisplayed works in any medium (including music, film and performance) that embody their response to the idea of ‘Home’. It is hoped that the theme of this Open Exhibition will stimulate the production of new work by artists living/working in Bristol (BS postcode).

Venue: Grant Bradley Gallery, 1 St Peter’s Court, Bedminster Parade, Bedminster, Bristol, BS3 4AQ

Dates: 26 October – 22 November 2007

Submissions: Good quality, 5 cm by 5 cm, 300 dpi, JPEG images must be submitted on CD to the panel to arrive on or before 5 pm on 14 September 2007. These should be accompanied by the exhibition submission form (Word document, 89 KB), 50 - 70 words about each work submitted and a cheque made payable to ‘SBA’ for £8 (SBA members) or £10 (non-members). This entitles you to submit up to 3 previously undisplayed works. More details are available in the full instructions (Word document, 86 KB).

Selection: This exhibition will be curated by a panel including SBA Committee members and Grant Bradley Gallery staff who will select work from submissions made by artists. Selection will be made from the images submitted and so selectors reserve the right to reject the piece at a later date should it be felt that the image unfairly represents the work or if there are problems encountered during the hanging process. The Gallery also reserves the right to refuse to hang a work if it deems it unsuitable.

Sales: Work may be made available for sale, with a 30% commission being taken from the selling price by Grant Bradley Gallery.

Prizes: Prizes will be awarded at 8 pm on Friday 26 October 2007 during the Private View.

Notification of Selection: 30 September 2007

Handing in day for selected work: Saturday 20 October 2007, 10 am - 4 pm (at Grant Bradley Gallery)

Private View: Friday 26 October 2007, 7 - 9 pm

Collection of work: Friday 23 November 2007, 10 am - 4 pm
