'Stairs'
Satinwood paint on canvas
₤415
When I lived in a flat I longed for stairs. These stairs are my little piece of home. They are the first thing I see as I walk in the door. When I moved in they were covered up with old carpet, paint and plywood masking their true form. They take me places.
'Clay Terraces 2'
Clay tiles
₤200
It seems curious to me that having grown up in a 1970s detached house, I now associate Victorian terraces so closely with the idea of 'home'. Ten years of catching a glimpse of the terraces as I return to Totterdown has rewritten my personal image of 'homecoming'. If you look under the different textures and endlessly varied front doors, the same house is repeated over and over.

Of course the van is our home really. The same home but it moves around nomadically providing us with ever changing borrowed scenery – so welcoming to return to after a long day's walk, providing that essential shelter for our comfort.

'Home Comforts'

At the end of a busy day a glass of good red wine and some home-baked bread bring comfort, joy and gratitude. Bread and wine also have a spiritual dimension reminding us of God who is our divine destiny and our home.
'The Perfect Housewife'
Textile installation
NFS (commissions taken)
My first thoughts of home were a happy and safe haven; I would escape to my 'Nan's' house if I was in trouble or unwell. As I got older I became aware of the tensions that exist within any home, both between those who live within it, and within the society that surrounds it. This piece looks at some of the issues and attitudes to the domestic role of my Grandmother's generation.
'The Blue Sail'
Vitreous enamel on copper
₤75
The fishermen return home from sea to the safety of the harbour at evening time. The setting sun represents our final voyage home; the blue sail, the repairing of the fishermen's nets as our preparation for infinity. "Evening will come, they will sew the blue sail." (Ian Hamilton Finlay)
'The Return of Spring'
Vitreous enamel on copper
₤85
A man in the autumn of his years makes a return journey to his childhood home. He stoops with the weight of time on his shoulders as he makes his way up the hill, whilst the light spring blossoms of childhood memories flutter down.
