An itinerant peddler of chapbooks and assorted ephemera, I will be hawking whimsical tat and currying favour in the shameless (yet potentially futile) pursuit of further commissions during the Arts Trail.
This sort of base self-aggrandisement ought not to be encouraged, but if you are perhaps inclined to investigate you might find the following at 49 Leighton Road:
"The Time Well Spent series of grotty little chapbooks is a collection of bird stories and superstitions, as viewed through a slightly warped and dusty lens. Illustrations and text jostle for prominence, with the role of the illustrator varying across the series. Humour and bathos entice the viewer to discover the narrative contents, with the form supporting this through structure, choice of materials, and shabby DIY production charm diverting attention from purely formal concerns. The collection was an attempt to wrestle outlandish ideas and working methods into a communicative, reproducible result and was produced using easily accessible technology in the main. The books are presented affordably and therefore within reach as companions to idle moments and awkward gifts."
Or a mild diversion, at least. I will be enchanted to make your acquaintance I'm sure, and will mutter unintelligibly on a number of topics if prompted (whilst believing the content to be erudite and arch). See you there.
Thanks to the Scottish Storytelling Centre for their support and contacts for storytellers, and also to the SWLA for their unfailing benevolence.
