This body of work, Entitled the 'Nightbreed' series, is based on Bristol night life & clubbing and some of the various characters and the situations you might find yourself in on the classic Big Night Out - Throwing your shapes on the floor, talking random to strangers, avoiding the trouble makers and getting a bit over excited. The work has previously been shown at the Tobacco Factory and as part of The Bristol Pack.
The portraits are bold, brassy and basic influenced by the dance music that helped inspire it. Rendered in spray, domestic, industrial and fluorescent paints, I have tried to get away from subtlety and the 'meaning' of what an image holds. Instead, I would hope the viewer gets the same kind of familiarity and flashback that you might get when a classic house or techno track comes on the radio.
