Rebecca Ellis

I'm currently working with the technique of 'over-firing' with enamel, thus with higher temperatures and longer firing times than usual, I can gain beautiful colours, translucent, effervesent, and rich. Unfortuanately I took this a little far the other day. I forgot that an embossed piece was in a kiln at over 900 degrees. When I opened the door, some ten minutes later, not only had the enamel all evaporated, but the copper on to which I had carefully sifted ground galss grains, had disintegrated completely............. if anyone wants to buy blackend shards................:)

First weekend

Goodness, what an excellent weekend! Despite torrential rain, with the aid of a good 'recommendation' from Venue Magazine, we had hoards of visitors - which makes the two week, labour intensive, stressing, all worth while :-). Lots of good feedback, some sales and the offer of another exhibition and I feel it has all paid off! Twas good to get away from traditional ' gallery format' and have an installation within which our work could be displayed. I think we might go even further next year and REALLY have an installation..............keep your eyes peeled............. and meanwhile the exhibition at The Boathouse continues this Saturday. Ok, so on to organising the Easton Arts Trail for the last weekend in
June..........
