Joseph is presenting six medium-sized canvases, which make up the series “Holistic Apocalyptic”. Inspired by a heady mix of publicity, graffiti, banknotes, spirituality, quantum physics and personal mythology, the oil paintings present slogans that sit as visual elements within a crazy world of symbols, imagery, colour and design that reflects the condensed madness of our cities and civilization. The words are written in an idiosyncratic mix of phonetics, texting and middle english and require to be deciphered to obtain their literal meaning. The slogans are messages from the end of the world or the beginning of a new one, they are social comments with a sense of humour and spirit, combining a sense of doom and chaos with a positive vision of harmony and understanding.
