I make delicate, light filled, expressive monoprints. Owing as much to Japanese wood block printmakers as to landscape painters, I try to show the movement and light in landscapes.
The prints are made by rolling ink onto a piece of glass or plastic, then taking an impression by hand onto tissue or Japanese paper. In this way layers of colour and texture are built up. The quality of the paper dictates the texture and transparency of the picture.
Dorset is one of my favourite landscapes, I try to capture the movement in the rolling land, also the sea fascinates me, creating such spectacular light displays.
People have told me the more they look at my prints the more they see, I take that as a real compliment.
