SBA is sorry to announce that the autumn/winter exhibition will not be able to go ahead this year.
A great space for the exhibition was first located in a Victorian shopping arcade that links Broadmead with the Horsefair, but that was withdrawn by the owners. Another space to show in was found in St Catherines Place, Bedminster, but again this was withdrawn.
So, after a great deal of effort an negotiation on the part of on its volunteers, SBA has been left without a place to show. Since the volunteers who make these things happen only have a limited amount of time to work on SBA organisation, it has been decided that the autumn/winter exhibition would be cancelled and that the 2010 Arts Trail would be the next thing that would be focussed upon.
While some of these issues are due to letting agents withdrawing their previous offers, they are also down to the amount of time that the SBA volunteers have to work on the organisation's projects. SBA does not employ anyone to organise these events, and so time that can be spent on them is limited by the number of people that get involved.
SBA would like to organise more events during the year, but this is not possible without people jointing in with the organisation. Even though we some new people join in this year, a few more would help to enable the organisation to do more. Organising events can be extremely rewarding, gives you a chance to meet people and get involved in interesting ventures. Some tasks require artistic or other special abilities, but many do not. Any skills you can bring to the organisation will be gratefully received and there is a chance to learn and practise new skills, get experience and get something to write on your CV!
Please contact the Chair, Natalie Allistone on if you would like more information on taking part in the SBA and its organisation.
