I studied as an Illustrator in Hereford, graduating in 2001. On moving to Bristol I expanded my working to include paintings on canvas, as well as the workings with paint and pencil which were happening in my sketchbooks. Initially the paintings I produced reflected the architecture of my new home town, a collection of which formed the basis of my first exhibit at Cafe unlimited, on Gloucester Road. I then began to explore producing more abstracted works, as I felt wanted to produce more personal work. These works began to feature in my next exhibitions at Cafe Unlimited and also at Cafe Amoeba, in Clifton.
My recent paintings have largely been based on an idea for a collection of pieces about plastic dinosaurs. I am fascinated by the gaping, beserk expressions that these cheap objects have, a fascination which extends beyond what they are trying to represent. They seem to be a strange 'godzilla' style parody, and have an accidental charm. Samples of these can be seen on my website www.geocities.com/the_puppet_bush
My work also includes writing and illustrating picture books. These will be available to look at and buy on the Art Trail, as well as limited edition prints of some of the Illustrations. They are also available to look at and buy from www.egretseacrow.etsy.com
