I have, in this current body of work, applied illustrative skills to a series of chairs. The chairs I have used have all been abandoned, found on the street or in skips, discarded because they have become unfashionable, broken or worn. I like the idea of transforming something unloved and worthless into something unique and beautiful.

I approach the chair as a three-dimensional canvas using a wide variety of techniques including drawing, photography, print and sewing to create once again functional pieces of furniture that are also sculptural works of art. The idea of elevating a common, everyday object to something decorative is continued in the visual themes and motifs I have used: developing a fascination with items of haberdashery into a strong, monochromatic graphic language.
