'Return to Glenkay Farm – Broken Hill – Zambia'
Drawing in pen and ink plus photographs

I was born in Africa and lived on a tobacco farm till I was nine. My Dad constructed our first 'shack' from corrugated asbestos and our kitchen was a mud hut. I remember the shack being knocked down but everything was recycled onto other farm buildings. Dad built our permanent house from hand-cast sun-dried bricks. Events conspired against us and the farm was entrusted to the care of (white) agents who proved negligent, as in our absence, they allowed the 'bush' to reclaim the tobacco fields and invade our once lovely home.
