Louise Bassett-Watts BA Hons

Louise Bassett Watts.jpg

I have studied textile design at Liverpool University and have qualified as a lecturer.

After teaching arts and crafts to the disabled for sixteen years, I now run a small business specialising in textile art. I continue to teach on a very part-time basis. I specialise in making a range of hand dyed and painted silk and velvet scarves, cushions and wall hangings, producing at least one new range of scarves each year.

I enjoy using colour and my designs are often based on natural themes such as leaves, feathers, gems and shells. Abstract forms also interest me. The diversity of colours and patterns never ceases to fascinate me.

I have undertaken several interesting commissions - some chair throws, a large wall hanging of Concorde and an Egyptian style double bedspread. I also paint a few watercolours, the techniques of which sometimes cross over with my silk painting.

My work is on sale in galleries around the country.
