This is the first time I’ve shown any of my photos outside of my own house, so please go easy on me! Though I take a lot of photos (a downside of digital photography) I am showing just a few framed enlargements and a set of photos compiled into a book.
I’ve been interested in photography for as long as I can remember, but especially since my father bought me a camera when I was maybe 15 or 16. I was, and still am enormously grateful, as the camera was an Olympus OM-4 Ti, almost the last model in a series of fantastic film cameras from Olympus with features that rival many modern and very pricey modern digital cameras.
Unfortunately, it sits in a drawer these days, as the era of affordable and excellent digital cameras has been here for a few years and I had to join in eventually. Though film feels somehow more special and “honest” the expense of developing photos is too prohibitive, even when you do it yourself, especially considering you’re even paying to develop photos that might be duff. So now I mainly use a Canon EOS 350D, though I'm also interested in the photos you can squeeze out of far cheaper and poorer quality cameras.
I hope you can come along and see my photos in the Greville Room at the Southville Centre sometime or I might see you out and about taking some photos to record the Trail for SBA.
I also have a collection of photos on the flickr website if you'd like to take a look. If you'd like to contact me, you can get hold of me on laurenceketteringham@gmail.com.
