Alce Harfield has strong links with Bristol back to 1992 when she owned the eclectiv Silly Fish Shop in Clifton for 10 years. More recently she was artist in residence at the fabulous Glasnost Restaurant in Totterdown and still regularily exhibits in Bristol (Totterdown Front Room 06 and Paintworks Art Markets) despite escaping to Somerset 7 years ago!
Well known for her use of colour, this will be her first visit to the Southbank Arts Trail and will be showcasing her new range of contempory 'dribble' florals' (See image), vast sky landscapes , seascapes and south Bristol cityscapes.

‘Place’ is integral in my work as it allows for a way of locating ourselves in our environments, to re-discover our place in the world and to reclaim a sense of belonging. Currently my work explores the relationship between three primary areas or ‘sites’: place/environments, the body and ‘beauty’. Using film and installation I respond to these ‘sites’ by catching fragments, suspended moments where something else takes places, something beautiful or wonder-full that takes you out of yourself (un-selfing) and relocate it back into the world. Nigel Shipley is a painter of urban landscapes in oils. His pictures reflect the streets, waterways and hidden corners of Bristol.
