I graduated from Herefordshire College of Art in 2001 with BA (Hons) in Design Crafts and now live in Bristol.

I am a textile artist and printmaker of landscapes. My inspiration comes from places I have lived or visited, mostly Herefordshire and the Welsh Mountains, Scotland and Ireland. Having recently moved to Bristol I am now looking at the city as a new challenge, especially for my printmaking.

I have always been strongly drawn to textiles of all kinds – I love the colour, the texture, the smell of fabric. Dyeing, printing, feltmaking and stitching have become something of a passion. This year I’m experimenting with growing woad for the first time with the intention of producing my own dye.
My work for this year’s exhibition will be mostly indigo-dyed fabrics embellished with stitch.

I am a textile artist and printmaker. I will mostly be exhibiting textile work at the art trail, and a few prints. The prints will be collagraphs and viscosity prints, a technique using deep acid etching where three colours can be used on a single copper plate with only one pull through the press. Both of these printing methods allow a degree of uncertainty and spontaneity to emerge during the printing process which i really like. The element of surprise always interests me!

I have studied textile design at Liverpool University and have qualified as a lecturer.

After teaching arts and crafts to the disabled for sixteen years, I now run a small business specialising in textile art. I continue to teach on a very part-time basis. I specialise in making a range of hand dyed and painted silk and velvet scarves, cushions and wall hangings, producing at least one new range of scarves each year.

pinkbuttercup animal friends

I love colour, pattern and texture and things that make you smile.
My patchwork ‘animal friends’ are created individually using retro and recycled fabric.
Each is hand sewn and unique with it’s own name and personality.
