Shaun McCrindle is an alternative ‘country-rock’ artist. He recently recorded his debut album, ‘Family Man’, featuring ten passionate and humorous songs, ranging from the ragged electric rock of the title track to the delicate acoustic arrangement of ‘Beautiful World’. Their music has a raw, earthy sound, driven by trad folk rhythms and a twisted take on contemporary culture.Their songs range from rich harmonised ballads to gyspy violin raps.

They have supported King Creosote, Adrian Crowley and Sharron Krauss and will be playing as a duo with Jet McDonald on guitar and vocals and the multitalented Hannah Porter on flute, melodica, violin and harmonies.

My work is made by burning in to the primed white canvas. I use a tool that has a fine tip that heats up to a range of controllable temperatures. The marks made are interesting since they are created through an act of destruction. They sit beneath the surface of the primer, creating shadows. As the viewer walks past the visibility of the drawing changes, giving a dynamic impression. The large-scale drawings are made from simple lines and marks that come together to make something more detailed and complex. They are visually ephemeral, because of the delicacy of the mark.
