Clare Phillips has been working as a Graphic Designer and Illustrator since 2007. She graduated from the University of the West of England in 2011 with an MA (distinction) in Printmaking.
Her work evokes a wonderful, playful retro 50's aesthetic. Clare will be exhibiting a lovely range of Bristol and London themed Ceramics, Magnets, Greetings cards and a selection of silkscreen prints.

My work currently focuses on the juxtaposition of contrasting floral elements, using vintage and contemporary ceramic transfers, cut and re-assembled in such a way as to give each piece of china a unique character. Balance and symmetry in the overall design is important but the surprise of one or two elements out of place add interest and humour.
I am currently having a merry old time creating in my brand new studio. After two and a half years away from ceramics I'm a bit rusty so my work for the Arts Trail is a mix of techniques relearned. So far I'm working on a collection of decorative porcelain vessels .
I am a pottery living and working in South Bristol. I make mugs, bowls and plates with a mousey theme.
